Support
In an emergency, call your local emergency number right away (911 in the US, 119 in Japan). Crisis lines are at the bottom of this page.
Subscriptions
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone, open Settings → your name at the top → Subscriptions → Koharu, and tap Cancel Subscription. You can open the same screen from Settings → Subscription in the Koharu app.
After cancelling, you can use Premium until the end of the period. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Apple's guide: If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple
How do I cancel during the free trial?
Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you will not be charged. The steps are the same as above. You can keep using Premium until the trial ends.
You can check when the trial ends in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If notifications are allowed, Koharu also reminds you 2 days before it ends.
How do I restore my purchase, or get Premium on a new iPhone?
In Koharu, tap Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. You need to be signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy.
If it still does not work, make sure you are online, then quit and reopen the app.
Can I get a refund?
Apple processes payments, so refunds are also handled by Apple. Request one from Apple's refund page. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
How much does it cost?
For free, you can talk with Koharu 3 times a day and use logs, medications (including reading Okusuri Techo QR codes), air pressure and the monthly log.
In Japan, Premium is ¥9,800 a year (7 days free for first-time subscribers) or ¥1,500 a month, tax included, renewing automatically. In other regions, the App Store shows the price for your country. See Subscriptions in the Terms of Use.
What is the Support plan?
A monthly plan (¥480 in Japan) for people who find it hard to continue for financial reasons, such as being on leave, having a low income or being a student. Eligibility is self-declared and not checked. What you declare is never stored or sent. It includes the same features as Premium.
You can choose it from "For people who find the price hard to manage (Support plan)" on the main purchase screen, or from Settings → Subscription in Koharu.
The app says I can't talk any more today
On the free plan, you can talk with Koharu 3 times a day. The count resets at midnight Japan time. Manual logs and medication logs are not limited.
Records and medications
The Okusuri Techo QR code won't scan
In the Medications tab, tap "+" at the top right, then "Scan a Japanese medication handbook (Okusuri Techo) QR" to read the code with the camera or from a photo. If it does not scan, try the following.
- Keep the whole QR code on the receipt or sticker in view, in a bright place.
- If there are two or more QR codes, scan all of them. The order does not matter.
- If the camera cannot read it, take a photo of the QR code and use "Read from a photo" on the scanning screen.
- If camera access is off, turn on Camera in iPhone Settings → Apps → Koharu.
Only QR codes in the electronic medication handbook format printed by Japanese pharmacies can be read. Other QR codes cannot.
Where is the monthly log?
Open "Monthly log" at the top of the Records tab. It fills in from what you tell Koharu, and you can tap a day's row to edit it.
You can view the monthly log for free. It is also a page of the appointment report (PDF), which is part of Premium.
Data and privacy
Where are my records stored?
Your records, conversation history and medications are stored only on your iPhone. They are not synced with iCloud and not stored on our server. We cannot see them.
What the AI features send and to whom is described in the Privacy Policy.
What happens to my records when I switch iPhones?
Records are not synced with iCloud, so reinstalling Koharu on a new iPhone does not bring them back. They move with you if you restore the new iPhone from a full backup (iCloud Backup or a backup on a computer) or transfer directly from your old iPhone with Quick Start.
How do I delete all my data?
In Koharu, tap Settings → Delete all data. This deletes all records on your iPhone and, on our server, your anonymous user ID, usage counts and the link to your subscription. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
Deleting your data does not cancel your subscription; cancel it as described in How do I cancel?. If you plan to delete the app, use "Delete all data" first so the server records are deleted too.
How do I give or withdraw consent for AI?
In Koharu, use Settings → AI → "Use AI". When you turn it on, a consent screen shows what is sent and to whom (OpenAI in the United States).
When it is off, nothing is sent. Talking with Koharu, logs from conversations and report text are unavailable, but manual logs, medications, charts and air pressure still work.
How do I stop sharing sleep and heart data with the AI?
In Koharu, turn off Settings → AI → "Share sleep and heart data with AI". Sleep and heart data are still used for charts and patterns on your iPhone.
How do I edit what Koharu remembers?
In Koharu, open Settings → "What Koharu remembers" to view, edit and delete each item.
About Koharu (AI)
Can Koharu's replies be wrong?
Yes. Koharu is an AI that writes replies by predicting likely words from a large amount of text. It can state things that are not true, or that do not fit your situation, in a convincing way.
Koharu is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease. Talk to your doctor about your health and medications. See the Medical disclaimer.
What I said was not logged, or was logged wrong
You can edit symptoms, severity, triggers and more on the log card below the conversation, or in the daily list in the Records tab.
Voice input does not work
In iPhone Settings → Apps → Koharu, make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are on. The first time you use voice, your iPhone downloads the data it needs for speech recognition, so make sure you are online. Your voice is turned into text on your iPhone, and the audio is never sent.
No patterns are showing
Koharu starts looking for patterns after 14 days of records. The Insights tab shows how many days are left. If there are few records, no patterns may be found.
Connections and notifications
Sleep or heart rate is not showing
In iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Koharu, make sure reading Sleep, Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability and Steps is turned on. Resting heart rate and heart rate variability appear only if they are recorded, for example by an Apple Watch.
Air pressure is not showing
Air pressure needs an internet connection and approximate location access (in Japan, you can choose a prefecture instead). In Koharu, open Settings → Connections to allow location.
I don't get notifications
In iPhone Settings → Notifications → Koharu, make sure notifications are on. They may not arrive while a Focus is on. You can change the check-in time and medication reminders in Koharu's Settings → Notifications.
